Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam and industrial organisations including the National Skill Development Corporation signed 17 Memoranda of Understanding(MoUs) in the presence of chief minister Virbhadra Singh.
With the aim of increasing employment opportunities the chief minister also launched the Himachal Pradesh Skill Development initiative the important part of which was, to launch the Skill Development Scheme for the educated unemployed. Virbhadra Singh said the signing of MoUs would give an edge to the state on skilling, assessment and placement issues.
In the same regard the government is looking forward to open a Skill Development University and has decided to upgrade the skills of building and construction workers by allocating 20% of the cess funds for skill initiative, the chief minister added.
Jayant Krishna,National Skill Development Corporation chief executive focused on the requirement of formal skill and training for which the industrial sector will play a crucial role.
A target to skill 50 crore people has been set by the government,the largest initiative in the field of skill development taken globally so far.
