Dharamshala cricket stadium will host 8 group stage matches in the ICC World T20 championship


ICC experts team were impressed with the facilities available at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association’s (HPCA). Which will be hosting ten matches that include much awaited India- Pakistan match in WorldT20 next year.

The ICC’s head of events, Chris Tetley, and Tournament Director of the Board of Control for Cricket in India MV Sridhar are on their last venue trip of the eight centers that is selected for the next world T20 Match in 2016.

The team conducted the inspection to check the facilities available at HPCA Stadium and Pavillion Hotel.During the press conference in afternoon, Tetley said “We have carried out inspection from all perspectives and are happy with the facilities here,”

The ICC official also mentioned that “Dharamsala has already hosted some International matches and was an incredible venue.

Tetley further added that the ICC takes safety aspect sincerely and plan will remain same for rest of the matches.The BCCI official Shridhar said  Dharamshala stadium is the best between the eight venues, which are going to host WorldT20.

“Practice facilities and the indoor practice area are of world class level and the biggest advantage at Dharamshala is the practice area for four teams at a time, that can be helpful for organizing several matches in short time. Accommodation facilities here are unmatched, and no other venue has so much of options,” said Shridhar.

The inspection team looked out no faults while few new conditions will be fulfilled because the event is three months later and they have time to complete it.

“Sitting capacity is being increased, and also special places will be created for differently-abled persons,” said and Shridhar further adding that the focus would be on providing best of the facilities to the every viewer in the stands.
