Kufri Snowfall

Popular tourist destination Kufri and Narkanda experienced the season’s first snowfall while the lower hills of Himachal Pradesh were lashed by rain.

The Meteorological Department has forecast the dry weather tomorrow in low and middle hills. However, Kufri experienced mild snow that melted with the movement of traffic on the Shimla-Narkanda highway. The tourists enjoyed the season’s first snow, making and throwing snowballs at one another.

Water, power, telecommunications and bus services remained unaffected but the bus services to Jubbal, Rohru and Chopal, was slightly affected at Kharapathar, which received heavy snow.

Rohtang Pass remained closed for traffic. The snowbound Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur district are under sub-zero temperature. Shimla Met centre Director Manmohan Singh confirmed that  Keylong recorded 10cm of snow till morning followed by Kalpa in Kinnaur, which got 3 cm snow.

Shimla had 5.2 degrees minimum temperature, Mandi 9.1 degrees, Bhuntar 8.9 degrees and Kalpa 0.4 degrees.

Dharamsala 7.2 degrees, Una 4.8 degrees, Nahan 10 degrees, Solan 5 degrees, Kangra 8.6 degrees, Keylong 1 degrees, Mandi 6.6 degrees, Seobagh -0.5 degrees, the coldest and Manali 3.8 degrees.

The rain was stated to be useful for rabi crops and the bumper crop of vegetables was expected in the region.
